papercrafting and some other stuff

I took a little envelope apart and traced a template onto  a piece of paper, carefully marking the fold lines.  I then cut the shape out with an Exacto knife and cutting mat.  Next I fold and secure the flaps of the envelope with papercrafting adhesive.I think they would make great gift tags.

Here are some more pictures my gift from Bettina.  I use it to tote around all my hand sewing supplies.

Felt applique – how i love thee !

This is a little peek at my gift for my new friend Bettina.  I really enjoyed making her gift .  When I have a recipient in mind I enjoying crafting much more.  The  idea for the applique  pictured below was inspired by Cath Kidston’s Make.    Hopefully I can send  everything off tomorrow .   I went a little slow because I really wanted her to like everything .

Swap received !

Is it a dream or is it real ?  It’s really real !  A package from the Netherlands arrived  today from a sweet swap partner named Bettina :

She thoughtfully sent 2 fat quarters of cute fabric (I LOVE the doggie one !),  ribbon,  embroidery floss,  a packet of Black-eyed Susan seeds, and a beautiful card with a mouse on it.   These Spring treats came with a quilted bucket bag she sewed with crochet trim and ribbon details.

I am almost done sewing her swap gift and plan to mail it Friday.

Thanks Bettina !! XX OO

As a sidenote for all you fabric-o-philes like me: I ventured to Target to check out the new “Liberty of London for Target”  line this morning.  It didn’t impress me (and I LOVE Liberty’s Tana Lawn).  The prints were just OK .  I  didn’t see anything that was so great that I’d want to spend my money on it.  Maybe I thrift shop so much now that I am unable to be fazed by any of the  imported junk that fills our stores.

Handmade kids’ goody bags !

I’ve been prepping for my 8 year old’s birthday party at a gymnastics school this weekend .  I love making goody bags.  I try to choose things that are fun, made in the U.S.A. (very hard as you can imagine) and stuff the parents will approve of  (not candy or junk that will break immediately).  I am compulsively creative and I love the opportunity to express myself.

p.s. I am also working on my Dutch Swap partner’s gift,  more on that later !

p.p.s. Please leave comments – thanks for stopping by !!
